Minnesota Porch Remodel — THE ACCESSORIST

Drumroll … our porch remodel is complete, 3 years later! The “before” photo below isn’t completely accurate, because when we bought the house, it was just a screened porch with a doggy door and no access to the outside. The first summer we lived in this house, Chris and his brother-in-law replaced the screens with windows and siding and added a sliding door to the (newly added) deck. Since that first summer, we dragged our feet on totally finishing the inside (adding insulation, painting, tile flooring, installing a wood-paneled feature wall with a mounted TV and electric fireplace, new electrical and blinds)—but we finally finished this spring!

Adding the decor was by far my favorite part of the remodel. I thought for a long time about what I wanted to do for a color scheme, and finally decided on pulling in some fun shades of green. I’ve never been into teal, but really like the way it came together here (and it’s a trending color this year)! We have a mix of southwestern-inspired patterns and subtle animal prints throughout our house, so the mix here continues that theme. They say your home style should reflect your personal style and I guess with pattern mixing that is definitely true for me!

This was our favorite room in the house even without the upgrades and now it’s even more true. We’re out here every night enjoying the beautiful start to summer!
