The Find: Twinkle Lights

The Find: Twinkle Lights

This past week was just what I needed. 💆‍♀️ Temps above 70 (!) allowed for midday walks outside (something I’ve missed since the early October snow), I had PTO on Friday afternoon (always a welcome way to start the weekend) and we had a few socially distanced outdoor gatherings that have been few and far between since March. I’ve been so up and down throughout this pandemic—the littlest things sometimes lead me to tears—and this week did a lot to brighten my spirits—and honestly, make life feel fun again—heading into November. OH, and the Biden/Harris victory didn’t hurt either! I’ll always remember watching the coverage on a sunny Saturday November morning and feeling like our country was on track again. The clip of Kamala calling Joe when she heard they won made me cry.

This week’s find is perfect if you’re also looking for little ways to make life fun again. I’m not sure what took me so long to find these twinkle lights, but I guess I didn’t think I had a place for them. I’ve been mulling over different options for a couple of vases in my kitchen and dining room—I had just a few faux branches in them, but they didn’t feel full enough, and I wasn’t completely satisfied with the look. Then I realized I could cluster a string of twinkle lights in the vases and I’m ridiculously excited about it. Don’t worry—these are decidedly more elevated than Christmas lights reminiscent of college dorms thanks to a delicate string and smaller bulbs.

The lights are on a 6-hour timer, starting at 5:30 PM, and it’s a little something that makes me happy as the days get shorter and darker, as well as a signal during this work-from-home era that it’s time to turn off the office and turn on relax mode. They’re a great way to add some sparkle for the holidays, but I plan to have these up and running all year long.

I got the 10’ silver string lights (good length for vases), but they also come in 30’ (probably better for mantels) and gold. I’ll probably eventually get another string for the mantel in our basement and something for the porch, too! No such thing as too many twinkle lights. ✨✨✨
