Spring Birthdays!

Spring Birthdays!

Chris, Cash, and I all have birthdays within 3 weeks of each other, so the last month has been filled with hosting and celebrating!

  • Cash turned TWO, and we decided on a train-themed party with mostly family and a few neighbor friends. We said we weren’t going to do parties past age one, but here we are! I loved these classic Oshkosh overalls for the birthday boy, and I found the perfect railroad-stripe shirt and patchwork jeans for me. The party started at 10:30 so I did a brunch menu that included an egg bake, slow cooker French toast, chicken wings, chicken salad sandwiches, and red velvet cupcakes to go with the red & blue color scheme. I also grabbed Aperol Spritzes from Trader Joe’s and a few different kinds of sparkling and still rosés! Cash took a crack at his first pinata, we got him this ride-on truck for his gift (his “tractor”), and I had fun assembling my first treat bags as a mom! It all came together with minimal decor.

  • Chris celebrated FORTY this year—so I planned a 1985-themed bash with food and drinks from the era (Cool Ranch Doritos, Sour Patch Kids, microwave popcorn, McDonald’s burgers, fries & milkshakes, plus canned Pina Coladas, some throwback beers, and blow job shots). I set up a little DIY beer tasting with 4 different crowlers from a brewery he likes, planned a trivia game with a gift card for the winner, rented a ping pong table (so fun), and suited up in a classic adidas sweatsuit! My neighbor made the vintage custom cookies, and the sparkler candles were so fun atop the hamburger platter (pics on my IG). It was a great night—and definitely has me thinking about how I want to celebrate my 40th in a few years …

  • Finally, my birthday happened to coincide with the men’s March Madness Final Four games, so we hosted a watch party with the neighbors that were in our pool. It wasn’t meant to be a party for me, but Chris surprised me with basketball cupcakes from The Thirsty Whale—so the evening felt festive. I made custom cups for the event, and got some orange snacks (clementines, cheddar potato chips, cheesy popcorn) and decor to nod to the basketball theme of the day. These sliders are always great for parties, and these meatballs are an easy favorite to fill out an appetizer spread. I’m so happy we’re able to host bigger groups now in our new house—and it’s fun to have neighbors with kids the same age.

I love hosting and making *events* out of things like March Madness (you’ll never wish you celebrated less!), but it was nice to have a weekend with zero plans after all the hoopla. Chris and I went to the Wolves game (thank you Grandma for babysitting), took Cash to the park, ordered takeout and started White Lotus season 3, cleaned off the patio furniture for the season (yay!), and watched the Masters. I’m looking forward to Easter next weekend—it will be Cash’s first egg hunt—and I’m starting to think about our summer plans! Cash is already signed up for swim lessons at our neighbor’s pool and I can’t wait.

P.S. ICYMI: Cash’s Easter basket, Easter outfit ideas, my Mother’s Day wish list, current Sephora cart, and my J.Crew swim order.
